The time is approaching for Day for Strings! All Orchestra students will be participating in this district-wide event.
Day for Strings XXV will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at North Farmington High School. Students will participate in one of six string orchestras. The 5th, 7th, and HS Allegro Orchestras will rehearse in the morning and finish with a concert at 11:00 am. The 6th, 8th, and HS Vivace Orchestras will rehearse in the afternoon and finish with a concert at 3:30 pm. Each orchestra will have an outstanding guest conductor. In addition, students will have the opportunity to work with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and other professional musicians. We ask all students to bring folding music stands to “Day for Strings”.
Please see the flier below for more information and to register your child for the event. Complete the bottom half of the flier and have your student bring it to Orchestra to give to me. There is a $15 registration fee for this event. Students will receive a Day for Strings t-shirt, which they will wear for the performance. Also included in the fee is the cost of instructors, facilites, and a snack.
Parent volunteers are needed throughout the day to assist with various aspects of the event. If you are interested in volunteering please complete that portion of the registration form and the parent in charge of volunteers will be in touch with you.
If you have any questions please let me know as soon as possible. If for some reason you cannot afford the $15 registration fee please let me know as there is some money available for families in financial need.
This is a great event that has been a highlight of the Farmington Public Schools Orchestra program for many years. I still have many t-shirts from when I participated as a student many years ago! I look forward to this event every year and I know it will be another great opportunity and experience for studnets.
