- Soloists need to make sure that they have made arrangements with an accompanist. If you do not have one yet please refer to the list attached below.
- It’s best to arrive at the site at least a half hour before your performance time.
- There is an information desk in the front lobby to find where your assigned rooms are located.
- Check in with the MSBOA official in the warm up room.
- Warm up, tune (ask the official for assistance if needed), run through your piece.
- Perform in the assigned performance room and wait for your rating. Parents and friends are welcome to attend your performance!
- Medals are given that day to ensembles that earn a first or second division rating.
- You have a scheduled time. *The MSBOA workers are flexible and will try to fit you into a different time if needed. Just explain your situation to the warm up chairperson and they try to get you in during the next available slot.
- Mr. Drake, Mr. Yoder or Mrs. Mihalko want to hear your presentation at least two times prior to the event. You can do this during Titan Time, lunch, or before school. In the meantime, use this checklist when preparing for your performance.
- Each ensemble must provide the original score to the judge.
- Number each measure with pencil in the judges score/original.
- Performers are allowed to read from copies, judges will not.
- Each event must play for a minimum of 1:30 to receive a rating.
- I suggest you dress professionally for the performance. Either wear our concert uniform or white on top black on bottom.
- The whole experience usually lasts about one hour.
- After you perform, put your instrument away and wait quietly outside the performance room where you’ll find out what rating you achieved. Get the judges score back before leaving.
- I’ll have the judge’s sheet/comments for you Monday at school.

There will be a sign-up sheet in the Orchestra room on the bulletin board for students to sign up to stay after. I would like to hear all groups/solos before the event.
